God's Good Plans
For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.
Jeremiah 29:11
When my husband and I were expecting our first child, I went into organizational overdrive, planning every detail. Since medical technology insisted we were going to have a girl, I forged ahead designing a precious pink rose petal nursery. To my surprise, I delivered a beautiful “bouncing baby boy”! Apparently, my plans were not God’s plans!
Jeremiah was known for his unpopular messages to God’s people. The people’s plans were not God’s plans. Though they would live in Babylonian captivity for seventy years, Jeremiah’s message was hopeful: God had good plans for God’s people!
Sometimes our plans are different from God’s plans. When we relinquish control, trusting in God’s good plans for our lives, we can be wonderfully surprised by the outcome!
Action Step:
Consider how you respond when God’s good plans are different from your plans.
Gracious God, when things don’t go as I had planned, remind me of your good plans for my Life. Amen.
