Scripture: Mark 16:8
The Day After
So they went out and fled from the tomb,
for terror and amazement had seized them;
and they said nothing to anyone for they were afraid.
Mark 16:8
When Easter bunnies in bright candy baskets
are set aside,
colored eggs fade and begin to rot,
and “cute’ has become a chore to clean up
- then we begin our journey with Christ again.
On this day after,
we may be weary or frightened
that somehow we missed the miracle.
We live in our questions,
our familiar spiced tombs of our own naming and claiming.
Why do we linger, so afraid?
Listen.
We were told Good News!
Set out to follow Jesus once more.
Follow Jesus, the only one who can satisfy.
Head back out into the world to tell the Good News of Jesus alive,
going ahead of us into all the challenges of our daily living.
Hallelujah! Jesus is risen! Jesus is risen indeed!
Action Step:
Seek signs of resurrection in your life and community.
Write them down and share them with others.
Lord, carry us into this Eastertide witnessing joyously,
overcoming our fear by your amazing love!
